RR&TC Racer: The “That Was The Week That Was” Edition #107

Hi Rutlanders

The June weather might be a wash-out but what an incredible action-packed week the club had last week!!! Every day there was something happening and we have a load of things to celebrate and also to look forward to now that Summer is supposedly upon us. There’s something for everyone and hopefully this week’s news will give you the motivation to lace up your running shoes and get involved … otherwise you are missing all the fun 🙂

Here is this week’s club news …

RR&TC Racer: The It’s All Kicking Off Edition #106

Hi Rutlanders

We have another new member to welcome to the club this week in the form of Ellie Lovett. Another of Jenny Pearson’s friends, Ellie came to last Tuesday’s training sessions and enjoyed herself so decided to join straight away. Ellie has been running for a few years and has completed events such as Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Man vs Mountain in Snowdon and our very own Rutland Marathon. Welcome aboard Ellie and look forward to hearing on your exploits in the future 🙂

Seems a number of us were in action over the past 7 days 🙂

RR&TC Racer: The “We Need You” Edition #105

Hi Rutlanders

It’s June and you know what that means … yes it’s the start of The Rutland Round season. Yes another chance to tour the county whilst enjoying the beautiful views but at the same time negotiating the challenges along the way including nettles, mud (it makes an appearance somewhere during the series), the weather, livestock etc. This year sees us run in an anti-clockwise direction so if you haven’t experienced the delights of the Round book your Thursday evenings up now for the next 11 weeks (we miss a week for the Whissendine 6ix) and come and enjoy visiting parts of the County you don’t normally get to see.

Elsewhere in this week’s edition of The Racer we are looking for more of you to get involved with club sessions … PLEASE!!!

2016 Club Championship #5: Wymeswold Waddle

There was a nice turn out on Sunday (08.May) for the May round of the Club Championship at the Wymeswold Waddle – although the ladies certainly out shone the men in terms of attendance.

RutlandWaddlers2016

Helen Pape was first home for the club and 3rd lady overall with a time of 34:28 for the 5 mile up-hill and back down again course. Next to finish was Saya Harvey with Dave Summers the first to finish for the lads.

The final club results were:

Name Time
Helen Pape 34:28
Saya Harvey 35:23
Dave Summers 37:17
Chris Jones 38:51
Emma Potter 39:31
Sue Fulbrook 40:40
Sue Barrow 42:24
Clare Dorman 43:58
Kate Howes 45:17
Felicity Crotty 46:52
Amanda McPherson 51:34
Jo Smith 51:40

Well done everyone on some excellent running 🙂

These results have caused a shift in both Championship standings. Helen Pape is now leading the Ladies’ Championship (with Jo Smith & Helen Duncan in 2nd and 3rd places) whilst the Men’s Championship is now headed up by Chris Jones (with Paul Rogerson and Simon Murton in 2nd and 3rd spots). You can view the latest Championship Tables here:

The designated June Championship races (The Beacon Hill Solstice and The Northumberland Coastal Run) are both full up so if you didn’t get an entry it’s too late now – never mind there is always the Whissendine 6ix in July to look forward to 🙂

RR&TC Racer: The Premiership Edition #102

Hi Rutlanders

Leicester may have won the Premiership but we have plenty of “against the odds” winners in our club. This week we have a new Marathoner, a new member of British Triathlon’s Team GB plus another great performance from our Ultra-specialist. We also have some sad news too … read all about it.

Here is this week’s edition of The Racer … enjoy 🙂

RR&TC Racer: The Scorcher Edition #101

Hi Rutlanders

Want to give a warm welcome to our latest new member in the form of Nick Adams. Many of you will know Nick as Claire Adams’ better half 😉 … welcome to the club Nick, look forward to reporting on your achievements (like in this week’s edition of The Racer below!)

Last weekend was certainly a scorcher and the first weekend of the year where we needed to watch our hydration levels whilst out racing or training. Be careful out there and remember the sunscreen too. Meantime seems things were hotting up on the competitive front with the latest Club Championship race at the Wymeswold Waddle. The official results haven’t been published yet but well done everyone who took part 🙂

RutlandWaddlers2016

Elsewhere the triathlon season has kicked off in fine style with club-mates in action at Grantham Sprint Triathlon (Tracey Poole, Paul Rogerson & Nick Adams) , Peterborough Monster Mojo (Martin Gordon-Kerr) and Ironman 70.3 Mallorca (Dylan Bogg)!!!

Finally quick mention that tomorrow’s Wednesday night easy pace run has a change of venue for this week. Chris Jones and Clare Dorman will be leading a run round Exton. Meet at the Fox and Hounds in Exton for a 7:15pm start … and bring some money as they are planning to have post-run drinkies at the pub afterwards 🙂 Check the Calendar for more details on club runs in the coming weeks.

Here is this week’s edition of The Racer … enjoy 🙂

County Standards

CountyStandardCertificates

Since 2014, the club introduced County Standard awards for all members who wish to participate. The system works as follows:

  • Each race completed by a member over a certified distance is age-graded and then given a rating: Gold, Silver, Bronze etc using predefined performance bands
  • To qualify for an award, the club member has to record in 5 different distances during the year to gain an overall County Standard level, rewarded with a club certificate
  • Race selection for the club championship will be adjusted to assist the collection of different distances, but any certified race will count
  • A certified race is any race with an accurately measured course. parkruns are included and Road Races will be provide a better opportunity to gain a faster time than off-road
  • Member’s progress towards their overall County Standard can be viewed via the Club Championship Table (see separate tab)

For more details on the standards for each race distance you can download a copy: County_Standards__Full_version_Pewter_to_Rhodium
